at the edge of town

Thu May 1, 2008, 8:54 PM
i live in a run down house at the edge of town
with my pet wolf and my hip cat
as far from the center as a man could be
smoking wild weeds
and drinking my water from a hole in the ground

now and then, you know, i come to da
to have a good time and to share what i've done
and what you've done… take a look and see…
but half the time they're maintaining themselves
and i lose interest and wonder off.

you might notice that i don't post much
it wouldn't bother me that i'm not popular,
if it were a little easier to maneuver round here
but it isn't you know, and i don't have the patience
that some folks
standing in line to say awesome
seem to have

here and there i've seen some sights,
and heard some true words blown through a pipe,
but it don't seem to make much of a difference
nor an impression on the kids that run this place…
i guess we ought to thank them
that they're not beating us up

of course,
if they were,
this would be beat poetry…
and those pictures of mine would be beat pics
in a beat space, cyber beatitude to you….

  • Listening to: my cat humming
  • Reading: the lines on my palms
  • Watching: out for the maintenance men
  • Playing: at communication
  • Eating: my heart out
  • Drinking: drinking hard whiskey

I seem to have been led into a place full of kids with this style of manga cartoons, its like they are only copying what they see on tv..... i might be wodering off, but when i see most works on da i feel that art is loosing its touch but once in a while i see some modest, thought about work and I really appreasiate that but even the really good looking work are made by people who are desperate for fame, thats not what arts about, sorry its good to have you back for a while :)

It has been getting more frustrating around here lately, I agree with you. I have not found another site yet that I like better, but still looking

Clever words well put together Shimon :-)

I check one of those personal sites I got an address for once, where you published a story, and don't see much activity. I think the problem here is that we get the idea that this stage can answer all our needs, but it is consistently frustrating. Seems to me that the answer is either a personal web site, or something like Flickr which seems to work much better than DA.

thank you very much

Oh, I so wish we could :+fav: journal entries.

This one is a classic!

After seeing what you're drinking, I'm off to get a nice bourbon...
